Austin
Area Interfaith Ministries (AAIM)
- Aging
Issues - meet to consider specific issues and needs of the aging.
- Hands
on Housing - do home repair, fix up, clean up of individual homes.
- Homeless
Issues - meet with concerned individuals to address needs.
- InterAct
- serve on an AIDS care team offering support to those suffering from
AIDS.
- International
Christmas Bazaar - set up and sell items from around the world to directly
benefit people from other countries.
Bread for the World lobbies for justice in feeding all people of the world.
Capital Area Food Bank
- provides food for the Gethsemane Food Pantry and serves the greater
community of central Texas.
The Care Communities offer individuals to join teams to provide practical and emotional care support for individuals with AIDS and cancer.
CROP Walk - walk in the annual spring walk and contribute to others walking.
Equal Exchange provides coffee, tea and chocolates from those who raise the products insuring a reasonable price. This strengthens the small farmers around the world. Gethsemane offers these products for sale each month
Gethsemane Food Pantry & Clothes Closet - donate food items for sharing
with those in need; arrange items on the shelves; donate plastic bags
for distribution.
Donate clothing items for
all ages: children, women and men; assist in sorting and displaying clothing. Donations are received most any time.
NOTE: The Gethsemane Food Pantry & Clothes Closet are open Tuesdays, 1:30-3:45 p.m. to distribute items to those in need.
Gethsemane Lutheran Children's Ministry - assist as volunteer
in classes, sew needed items, help and donate items for annual garage
sale, assist with annual fund raiser barbeque, auction, skits and carnival
activities.
Habitat for Humanity - assist in actually building houses, raise money for supplies, serve
as site host for construction site, volunteer in Re Store. Austin Luthernas have built more home with Habitat than any other partner.
Heatherwilde Assisted Living - assist with service of Holy Communion, visiting with residents and general assistance for special events.
Libraries of Love - assist in collecting books to establish libraries in Africa. You may participate in a trip to help set up the library.
Lutheran Social Services of the
South - volunteer to be a friend at the adult daycare center,
assisted living facility, give rides, play golf and raise funds through the annual fall golf tournament.
Lutheran World Federation is the world wide association of Lutherans. Lutheran World Relief - contribute money, items and time to sew or assemble school, sewing and
hygiene kits and create quilts that go around the world.
Mentoring - serve as a one on one mentor for youth at risk.
Mexico Border Mission Vision Trips - contribute building and painting
supplies for the trip; go on the January weekend trip to the border (for families
and individuals of all ages). Our Mission Partners there are San Lucas in Eagle Pass and Cristo Rey in Piedras Negras.
North Central Austin Caregivers - assist in giving rides
and visiting with shut in folks in the general church area; distribute
May baskets.
North Central Austin Community of Churches (NCACC) - ecumenical
effort to do ministry and outreach of the Christian community of north
central Austin.
Salvation
Army - assist with financial support, serving Thanksgiving
and Christmas dinners, sort clothes and shoes and other related assistance.
SERRV offers products for sale that support artisans around the globe to insure they receive a fair price for their goods.
Thanksgiving and Christmas Families - provide food, clothing
and gifts appropriate for the season for families near the church.
Trinity Home - provide items for the Trinity
Bazaar, bake cookies for the residents, visit residents, share in leading
chapel services.
