Adult Christian Education

Sundays
9:30 - 10:25 AM - Adult Bible Class discusses Bible text of the day. (Class Room 6)

9:30 - 10:25 AM - Adult Class discusses scripture and aspects of faith. (Steffans Parlor)

9:30 - 10:25 AM - Adult Encounter Class meets in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR/Gym) to dialog with people from around the world and discuss issues that are important on our faith walk.

Mondays
6:30 PM - Women’s Bible Study offered seasonly in the Music Room

Wednesdays
11:00 AM - Day time Bible Study (Steffans Parlor)

12:30 PM - Lunch Bunch meets second Wednesday of each month for Pot Luck Lunch, guest speaker and Christian fellowship. (Narthex)

5:00 PM - Midweek Connections happens at Gethsemane with a hot evening meal for a nominal cost followed by confirmation instruction, adult classes, crafts, games, music and storytelling for children, followed by a brief service of Holy Communion in the sanctuary. Mentors then meet with confirmands individually, sanctuary choir rehearses and there is open volleyball in the Multi-Purpose Room. There are sessions in fall, winter and spring.

Via de Cristo (during Spring and Fall seasons)
72-hour retreats for spiritual growth. Contact one of the pastors for more information, these retreats may be scheduled according to weather conditions.

Early Communion
Classes are offered Palm Sunday for those not yet confirmed who desire to receive holy communion. Gethsemane invites those in 3rd grade and above to participate. Arrangements may be made by contacting one of the pastors.

Austin Area Lutheran Friends
Singles & Couples Ministry offers retreats, trips, fellowship events and a quarterly newsletter. All ages are invited to paticipate. Contact Dar Krenek for more information on these events.


Youth Christian Education

Sunday Church School (9:30 AM to 10:20 AM)
We offer classes for all ages, 2 through adult. We provide the best material available with dedicated loving teachers and staff. Our goal is to nurture the faith and provide growing opportunities for all in our faith family. We are open to receive new students at any time. All are welcome. The Sunday Church School meets Sunday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:25 AM. Time will be taken for the opportunity to sing with the various choirs and learn the story of God's love through song. We are extremely pleased with our staff and look forward to your participation.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) June 16-20, 2008
Vacation Bible School is offered half day mornings the week following Father’s Day. This is an opportunity for children and teachers to participate in an exciting Bible study experience using the excellent Biblical material from Augsburg Fortress Publishing House.

Confirmation (7th/8th/9th Graders)
Classes are held with Pastor Schnelle for students in grades 7 and 8. Youth are confirmed on Reformation Sunday in the fall of their 9th grade. Classes meet Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. The time with the Pastors includes Bible Study and real experience with living one's faith in the community. Each confirmand meets with an adult mentor on a regular basis. During the summer a special experience is available either through a camping or travel experience. Special arrangements will be made where necessary.

Gethsemane Youth Ministry (7th-12th Graders)
Gethsemane Youth Ministry (GYM) offers a safe learning and sharing environment for teenagers to grow in their faith and their connection to the congregation. Sunday morning High School classes meet in the Youth Loft and offer opportunities for fellowship, recreation, field trips, service events and mission trips. High School youth participate in synod events, serve on Synod committees and attend the National Youth Gatherings. Events are for all youth, 7-12th grades or Senior High (9-12) or 7th & 8th grades.
