East Clerestory - God, the Creator
Creation

We begin with the East Clerestory, which tells the story of God, the Creator, giving hope through creation, convenants, and promises:
Genesis 1, 2: Creation1:In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2: The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep;...
3: And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
6: And God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters,..."

Creation 2

9: And God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so.
11: And God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit..."
16: And God made the two great lights,...he made the stars also.
17: And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth,...
21: God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm,...and every winged bird...
22: And God blessed them,...
25: And God made the beasts of the earth...and the cattle,...and everything that creeps upon the ground.
27: God created man in his own image,...male and female he created them.
28: And God blessed them,...
2: And on the seventh day God finished his work...,and he rested...
2: So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it,...
8: And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there he put...man...

9: And...the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,...

The Flood

Noah
Genesis 7,8,9 The Flood
Then the Lord said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and all your household,...
4: For in seven days I will send rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground."
15: They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh,...
17: The flood...waters increased, and bore up the ark,...
6: At the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the ark...
8: Then he sent forth a dove...
9: but the dove found no place to set her foot, and she returned...
10: He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove...
11: and the dove came back to him in the evening, and lo, in her mouth a freshly plucked olive leaf;...
8: Then God said to Noah...,
13: "I set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
14: When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds,
15: I will remember my covenant which is between me and you and every living creature...; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh."

Tower of Babel/Abraham

Babel
Genesis 11 - Tower of Babel
Now the whole earth had one language and few words.
4: Then (the people) said, "Come, let us biuld ourselves a city with it's top in the heavens,..."
6: And the Lord said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do;...
7: Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech."
8: So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all earth,...
9: Therefore its name was called Babel,...
Abraham
Genesis 22 - Attempted sacrifice of Isaac
God tested Abraham,...
2: He said, "Take your son,...Isaac,...and offer him there as a burnt offering..."
9: When they came to the place which God had told him, Abraham...bound Isaac..., and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
10: Then Abraham...took the knife to slay his son.
11: But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven,...
12: He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him;..."
13: And Abraham lifed up his eyes and...behold behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham...offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.

8: They have...made for themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it..."
30: And when Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.
Joshua
Joshua 6: Destruction of Jericho

2: And the Lord said to Joshua, "See, I have given into your hand Jericho,...
3: You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. Thus shall you do for six days.
4: And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark; and on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, the priests blowing the trumpets.
5: And when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, as soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then all the people shall shout with a great shout;..."
20: So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown...the wall fell down flat...and they took the city.
21: Then they utterly destroyed all in the city,...

Numbers 20
2: Now there was no water;...
7: and the Lord said to Moses,
8: "Take the rod,...and tell the rock... to yield it's water;..."
10: And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly...before the rock, and said..., "Hear now, you rebels; shall we bring forth water for you out of this rock?"
11: And Moses...struck the rock with his rod twice; and water came forth abundantly,...
12: And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, Because you did not believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them."

Jonah
Jonah 1,2,3,4: God calls Jonah
Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah... saying, "Arise, go to Nineveh,...cry against it; for their wickedness has come up before me."
3: But Jonah rose to flee...and found a ship going to Tarshish;...
4: But the Lord hurled a great wind upon the sea,...
5: Then the mariners were afraid,...
7: And they said..., "Come, let us cast lots, that we may know on whose account this evil has come upon us."...and the lot fell upon Jonah.
10: Then the men...said to him, "What is this that you have done!"
11: ..."What shall we do to you...?"
12: He said to them, "Take me up and throw me into the sea;..."
17: And the lord appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah;... Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish,...
10: And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
3: So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh,...
5: And the people of Nineveh believed in God,...
10: When God saw...how they turned from their evil way, God repented... But it displeased Jonah...,and he was angry.
4: And the Lord said, "Do you do well to be angry?"
11: "And should not I pity Nineveh, that great city...?"

Isaiah
Isaiah 7,9: Christ promised
14: Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
6: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
